iFood launches electric motorcycle for delivery couriers

iFood is starting sales of the EVS Work iFood, the first custom-built electric motorcycle, in partnership with Voltz, for the work of delivery partners. “We want to show that it is already a reality to travel within urban centres with vehicles that generate low impact on the environment,” emphasizes André Borges, head of sustainability at iFood.

This initiative is part of iFood's goal of reaching 2025 by making 50% of its deliveries with non-polluting vehicles. “It is a gain for the delivery person, for the environment and for society as a whole”, says André.

This new electric motorcycle developed by Voltz begins to be sold to partner couriers for R$ 9,999.90. To make it accessible, iFood partnered with Banco BV to offer a line of financing with differentiated conditions: a subsidy of R$ 2 thousand for the first 300 units that are financed – upon approval of credit and user.

After completing the testing phase, carried out with 30 delivery couriers, the pilot project for the electric motorcycle is being implemented first in São Paulo and should reach other cities by the end of the year.

The motorcycle can be recharged at any outlet, but couriers will be able to make a subscription plan that provides for free battery replacement at authorized points. Initially, there will be 100 stations to carry out this operation in the capital of São Paulo, in neighborhoods such as Lapa, República, Pinheiros, Jardins, Moema and Itaim Bibi and on Avenida Paulista.
