Shipper raises $63 million in funding round with participation from Prosus Ventures

Jakarta, Indonesia, 15 April 2021 – Indonesia-based digital logistics provider Shipper has closed a USD 63 million Series B financing led by DST Global partners and Sequoia Capital India with prior investors' participation, including Prosus Ventures, Floodgate, Lightspeed, Insignia Ventures, AC Ventures and Y Combinator. The Series B financing comes less than a year after Shipper secured its Series A financing in June 2020 and will enable Shipper to further invest in its technology and significantly expand its logistics network.

Shipper launched in 2017 to democratise best-in-class logistics across Indonesia, especially for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises. Today, Shipper provides fulfilment and delivery services through its digitally managed network of fulfilment centres, delivery partners, and retail points to thousands of e-commerce businesses that fulfil millions of items each month. Last year, Shipper’s customers saw a surge in online volume accelerated by Covid-19, and the company helped its customers to maintain strong fulfilment and delivery streams.

Budi Handoko, Shipper’s co-founder & COO, said: "We started Shipper four years ago as a result of our personal pain points in packing and delivering packages as online sellers. Building Shipper, we have always approached the problem from the angle of a micro, small and medium-sized business because that is who we are. We are excited to play our role in further empowering this segment and strengthening the nation’s logistics ecosystem."

Phil Opamuratawongse, Shipper’s co-founder & CEO, said: “Our mission at Shipper to democratize logistics has been consistent from day one, and we have seen an acceleration in new customers wanting to partner with us. This additional investment will allow us to continue investing in our technology and operational excellence while expanding our network. We are proud of what our customers are accomplishing with us, and we are excited to continue making our customers and logistics partners successful.”

As Shipper looks forward to its next phase of growth, it looks to grow its team further with passionate and talented people looking to be at the forefront of digitising Indonesia’s logistics sector.
