Managing our environmental impact
Realising a net zero society not only relies on changing our energy system, it also requires a transformation of how we live our lives, the products we buy, the food we eat and the services we use. Dematerialisation of services powered by digital technologies contributes to building such a society.
Due to the digital nature of our business, our portfolio companies are asset-light businesses operating digital platforms that have limited need for natural resources in their value chain, beyond office space and equipment. Some of our businesses enable resource optimisation by promoting the recycling and re-use of goods (Classifieds segment). There are pockets of resource and carbon-intense activities within our Food Delivery and Etail platforms. Curbing the environmental impact of delivery services and goods packaging is a priority across our businesses in these segments. We take an active role in enabling positive transitions to sustainable packaging and electric vehicles.
We are committed to measuring and managing our impact on biodiversity based on a thorough understanding of the issues involved as well as developing effective strategies to reduce negative impacts.
