Prosus Foundation

Empowering communities to shape their future in the age of AI.

The Prosus Foundation is an independent, non-profit organisation founded in 2026 by Prosus with a vision to build sustainable societies where technology drives wellbeing, where no one is left behind in a digital future.

What is the Prosus Foundation

Our mission is to empower individuals and communities to actively participate in and benefit from the digital economy - underpinning Prosus’ vision to build sustainable societies where technology drives well-being and no one is left behind.

Our programmatic direction is underpinned by three thematic pillars:

Education & Learning

Supporting projects that enable access to foundational education and learning opportunities, particularly for individuals in underserved communities in Lower-Middle and Upper-Middle-Income Countries.

Digital & Economic Inclusion

Funding tools and training that empower people — especially those marginalised by financial, educational, or socio-economic barriers — to take part in a digital and sustainable economy.

Technology For Social Progress

Testing, innovating and promoting technology-enabled solutions for social progress, including green technologies aimed at climate change mitigation and adaptation.

Program implementation

  1. Local impact in partnership with Prosus portfolio companies. We back initiatives that deliver direct, lasting benefits to local communities. Working alongside Prosus affiliates and portfolio companies, we focus on projects that reflect our mission and values, and that help the communities we operate in thrive in a digital world.
  2. Ecosystem solutions through strategic partnerships for systems level solutions. Systemic challenges demand collaboration. We support initiatives that build system-level solutions for sustainable societies, where technology drives wellbeing and no one is left behind in an AI-first, digital future.
  3. Humanitarian relief. When crisis strikes, we act. We support organizations that alleviate human suffering in the communities where Prosus and its affiliates operate.

When choosing partners and projects, the Foundation applies a gender lens and prioritises those least equipped to take part in the digital economy — people held back by financial, educational, or socio-economic barriers in the regions where we operate.

The Foundation prioritises the efficient use of financial and in-kind donations, with a core focus on projects that foster self-reliance and increased opportunities for digitally enabled livelihoods. The Foundation’s current policy plan covers the period FY2027–FY2030.

Board and oversight

The Foundation is governed by an independent board consisting of a minimum of four members. To ensure independence, at least half of its members have no affiliation with Prosus. The Board has final responsibility for the Foundation’s strategy, policies, performance, and funds management.

The board entrusts the Foundation's day-to-day management to the Foundation Director and operations team. The Foundation holds itself to full transparency.
