Fipe survey reveals that iFood accounts for BRL 32 billion (USD $6.4 billion) of Brazilian national GDP
A study by the Economic Research Institute Foundation (Fipe) reveals that the company's operations generated R$31.8 billion in 2020.
The study Socioeconomic Impact of iFood Operations in Brazil, by the Fundação Instituto de Pesquisas Econômicas (Fipe), reveals that the Prosus-backed iFood's operations generated BRL 31.8 billion in 2020 – equivalent to 0.43% of the national GDP.
Regarding the job market, the survey indicated that iFood generated around 730 thousand jobs, equivalent to 0.72% of the employed population in 2020. In addition, for every 100 direct jobs, 60 additional jobs are generated in the Brazilian economy, which includes the indirect and induced effects on the value chain associated with iFood.
Lucas Pittioni, director of Public Policies at iFood, said: “At iFood, we believe that the development of our business is directly related to the development of the country, with the generation of income and new opportunities for everyone. The FIPE study provides important information that helps us to identify more of the profile of these workers, the remuneration compared to other occupations and regional characteristics of the labour market.”
