Prosus leads $75M Series B Funding in Rain to Bring Flexible Pay and Financial Wellbeing to Millions of Workers

Rain, the leading employer-integrated earned wage access (EWA) and financial wellness platform, today announced it has raised $75 million in Series B equity funding. The round was led by Prosus, one of the world’s largest investors in technology and platforms that serve the everyday needs of billions of people. The round included participation from Nextalia Ventures, Spark Growth Ventures, and existing investors including QED, Invus Opportunities, and others.

Founded in 2019, Rain enables workers to access their earnings instantly after each shift, helping millions of Americans reduce reliance on high-cost credit and better manage their financial lives. This new capital will help Rain scale its go-to-market operations, grow its customer base, and expand a suite of financial wellness tools that support both employees and employers.

Ali Esfahani, Head of Americas Investments at Prosus, commented: "The relationship between work and life is evolving, and independent financial flexibility is becoming essential for employees. Rain provides a solution that empowers workers, helps businesses thrive, and plays a fundamental role in this shift in workforce dynamics. We believe in their vision and are excited to be part of this journey as they continue to grow their business.”

As a global investor in e-commerce and marketplaces, Prosus has long backed the platforms shaping how people shop, move, learn, and pay—from Flipkart and OLX to iFood and Swiggy. Many of these platforms are powered by a distributed, flexible labor force—whether warehouse staff, delivery partners, or customer support teams—who benefit from earned wage access and financial wellness tools. Rain sits squarely in this strategy, improving outcomes for workers and creating value for employers and the broader economy.

Alex Bradford, Co-Founder and CEO of Rain, said: “Rain is building the employee engagement app of the future centered around financial wellness. Rain makes it easy for employers to give their employees the freedom to access and manage their earnings on their own terms. Thanks to the support from Prosus, Nextalia and other investors participating in this round, Rain is in a strong position to scale to thousands of new employers and millions of new employees across the U.S.,” says Alex Bradford, Co-Founder and CEO at Rain.

Rain’s model is simple and powerful. It integrates directly with employer payroll and HR systems, making setup frictionless while delivering immediate value. Employers who use Rain report a 200% increase in job applications, 20 more hours worked per employee per month, and a 46% improvement in employee retention after six months. Rain has already distributed over $2 billion in earned wages to more than 2.5 million workers.

In addition to EWA, Rain’s platform includes modern financial tools such as bill reduction services, a deposit account and debit card, overdraft avoidance features, tax filing support, and in-app financial coaching. Upcoming launches in savings and credit-building are set to deepen Rain’s long-term impact on workers’ financial health.

Rain sits squarely in this strategy, improving outcomes for workers and creating value for employers and the broader economy.
