Prosus Ventures Leads $3.6M Seed Round in Orbii to Power Embedded SME Lending Across MENA, Building the AI Network of Lending
The investment strengthens Prosus Ventures’ global portfolio of AI-first fintech and digital commerce platforms, adding embedded SME credit infrastructure in MENA.
Prosus Ventures has led a $3.6 million seed round in Orbiii, the embedded credit infrastructure platform enabling financial institutions and B2B platforms to launch SME lending products across MENA. The round also saw participation from VentureSouq, DASH Ventures, Taz Investments and Sanabil 500.
Founded in 2024, Orbii is redefining how credit is built and delivered in the MENA region. Its AI-powered platform integrates directly into the systems businesses already use, such as POS and ERP platforms, allowing lenders to underwrite, disburse, and monitor loans in real time. By replacing slow, manual SME credit assessments with machine learning models that analyse real-time payment data, Orbii enables near-instant, higher quality lending decisions that boost approvals, reduce defaults, and unlock greater growth potential for businesses.
Backing AI to Transform SME Lending
AI is a priority investment area for Prosus Ventures’ investment strategy, underpinning its commitment to innovative companies which are shaping the future of work and e-commerce. Orbii embodies this mission, tackling one of MENA’s most pressing challenges: SME access to finance. SMEs form the backbone of the region, yet remain underserved by traditional lending models.
Orbii’s integration with Foodics, a Prosus Ventures portfolio company, demonstrates how portfolio synergies can unlock new opportunities. As Orbii grows, its technology has the potential to strengthen commercial credit offerings across the portfolio, driving financial inclusion and unlocking long-term impact.
“From day one, Orbii impressed us with how quickly their solution can be implemented, the depth of expertise across the team, and the tangible results they deliver for clients,” said Robin Voogd, Head of Middle East Investments at Prosus Ventures. “Nauman and his leadership team combine rare technical skill with deep market understanding, and they’ve built a platform that is transforming SME lending in MENA making credit faster, smarter, and more accessible.”
Scaling to $1B in SME Loans by 2026
The funding will accelerate Orbii’s progress towards $1bn in SME loans by 2026. It will be used to scale its engineering and data science teams, deepen integrations with banks and platforms across the region, and expand its footprint in Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
Orbii is already working with a growing number of lenders and digital channels, having processed thousands of applications and powering millions of USD in approved loans. Its customers include digital lenders, fintechs, payment companies, and B2B ecosystems, building credit products for underserved SME segments, enabling them to go to market faster with smarter, AI-driven credit infrastructure.
