Prosus and Rijksmuseum partner to put AI to work for art and culture

Impact

Prosus, a European technology leader, and the world-renowned Rijksmuseum are joining forces in a three-year AI partnership to explore new ways to bring cultural treasures to a broader audience. From October 2026, AI specialists from Prosus’s flagship AI Talent Lab in Amsterdam will work full-time on Rijksmuseum projects, sharing expertise in data analysis, generative AI and smart digital tools.

Together the teams will explore opportunities to improve how visitors discover, access and experience the museum’s collection, art and culture.

Euro Beinat, Chief AI Officer, Prosus, said, “Centuries of human creativity will meet a new generation of AI talent at the Rijksmuseum. Together, we want to explore how AI can help more people discover, understand and connect with the art and history held here. For the specialists joining our AI Talent Lab, this is a chance to tackle meaningful challenges at one of the world’s great museums. It’s also how we help build a stronger AI ecosystem in the Netherlands: give exceptional talent compelling reasons to come here, stay here and create something that matters.”

Janneke van der Wijk, Director of Audiences, Rijksmuseum, said, “Our partnership with Prosus helps us explore the potential of AI to make our collection more accessible. Together, we’re learning how AI can create new ways for people to engage with art, discover history and connect with the stories behind our collection.”

The teams will start in October by jointly assessing objectives, available data, existing workflows and technological opportunities. Consecutive phases will focus on data collection, analysis and the implementation of practical applications. Teams will continuously evaluate and refine the approach throughout the partnership.

Investing in the next generation of AI talent

The AI Talent Lab is Prosus’s flagship initiative for building world-class technical AI talent within the Prosus ecosystem, helping to develop a new generation of AI professionals for Europe. The programme draws on Prosus’s broader AI expertise and offers two tracks: for AI trainees and interns. Participants follow a six-month programme built around four pillars: impactful projects, structured mentorship, learning pathways and leadership engagement. The current group includes 13 participants.

The partnership with one of the world’s leading cultural institutions reflects Prosus’s approach to applying its AI expertise beyond its core ecommerce businesses through meaningful, real-world collaborations.

Participants in the AI Talent Lab are typically based at AI House Amsterdam, an innovation hub designed to accelerate AI knowledge-sharing and collaboration across the Netherlands and Europe.
