Prosus Ventures Co-leads US$10m Series A investment in Arivihan to Scale AI-Powered Education Across India

Investments

Since its pre-Series A investment last year, Arivihan's fully automated AI tutor has achieved 10x greater scalability and cost-effectiveness than traditional coaching with 80% of subscribers from Tier 4 cities and rural regions of India

Prosus Ventures announced it is co-leading a US$10m Series A investment in Arivihan - India's first AI-powered learning platform - following an initial pre-Series A investment in July last year. The funding will be used to strengthen AI research and vernacular language capabilities, expand reach into new markets, and scale on-ground distribution.

Dhruv Gupta, Investor at Prosus, elaborated on the investment, “Arivihan has made impressive progress since our initial investment, scaling rapidly while maintaining strong engagement among students. The company is demonstrating that AI can deliver a high-quality, individualised learning experience at mass-market price points. At Prosus Ventures, we are backing companies that use AI to bring critical digital services to the next several hundred million users in India. We have a strong conviction in the role of AI in expanding high quality education by shifting the focus from infrastructure-building to learning outcomes. We’re excited to continue backing Arivihan as they scale this model to millions of students across India.”

Founded by IIT Roorkee alumni Ritesh Singh Chandel, Sonu Kumar, and educator Rushabh Kothari in 2022, Arivihan offers fully automated, personalized coaching for school students. The company has developed an AI tutoring platform that delivers personalized coaching through interactive video lectures, instant doubt-solving, and AI-driven study plans. By eliminating the dependency on live teachers, the platform achieves 10x greater scalability and cost-effectiveness compared to traditional coaching models, making quality education accessible to students across India's underserved regions.

Ritesh Singh Chandel, Co-founder & CEO, Arivihan, shared, “India’s education opportunity extends far beyond the metros, and some of our strongest adoption is already coming from smaller towns and rural communities. With 80% of our subscribers from Tier 3 cities and rural India, we see a significant opportunity to make personalized, high-quality learning accessible to students regardless of where they live or the language they learn in. Edtech so far has made content cheaper. We are making the entire personalised learning system affordable for every student – and making AI deliver real results for real Bharat students.”

India's education sector faces a critical personalization challenge that affects 250 million actively enrolled students. With teacher-to-student ratios of less than 1:200 and unusually large class sizes, the system is dominated by one-size-fits-all classroom teaching, despite clear evidence that personalized tutoring dramatically improves student outcomes. This challenge is particularly pressing given that excelling at standardized tests often represents the only viable path to upward financial mobility for millions of students.

Prosus’s “AI for All” white paper, developed earlier this year in collaboration with MeitY (Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India), covered how AI can help reduce administrative workloads for educators, allowing them to focus more on mentorship, critical thinking and student development, particularly in resource-constrained classrooms. AI can enable personalised learning, competency-based education and multilingual learning at scale, while real-time learning analytics can help surface gaps earlier and enable more targeted support across diverse learning environments.
